What are you listening to this half term?
The Latymer Saturday Music Centre CIC is now closed for the half term break. We remind students not to attend on Saturdays 24th & 31st October! Lessons resume on 7th November, and there are limited vacancies in piano, other instruments and Music Makers classes. Do feel free to enquire via info@thelatymersaturdaymusiccentre.co.uk
Our highly dedicated team of teachers are frequently busy performers and recording artists. We perhaps don’t get to celebrate this creative output quite as much as we should.
We at TLSMC are very pleased to share that our wonderful saxophone & clarinet teacher, Kyle Horch, has a new album ‘Fantasia’

Fantasia is an album seeking to bring attention to six excellent pieces for saxophone: sonatas, sonatinas, and other recital works that are mostly not widely known, even to specialist saxophone audiences. There is a common thread of melodic lyricism running through all of these works, contrasted by a variety of atmospheres: the rich Romanticism of William Lovelock’s Sonata, the beautifully hypnotic modernism of Harriet Steinke’s Strange Lights, the mysterious harmonies and dancing rhythms of Boris Mersson’s Fantasia, the religious allusions in Frank William Brazinski’s Sonatina, and the moments of both humour and pathos in John Carmichael’s Sonata: Music Grave and Gay and Melvin Solomon’s Sonatina. The album title of Fantasia captures the essence of this group of pieces: a dream collection of ‘strange lights’ in the saxophone repertoire, which form a pleasing programme of music ranging ‘from grave to gay.’
