Congratulations to two former students

We are always delighted to hear from our former students, particularly if they decide to continue their musical studies when they leave us.

Two of our former students completed their master’s degrees at the Royal Academy of Music and we were honoured to be invited to the graduation ceremony.

Naomi Warburton studied violin and piano with us for many years before going to the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She completed her undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Cambridge before continuing her studies at The Royal Academy of Music. She is looking forward to starting a fellowship in September as part of the Philharmonia’s MMSF programme.

Rebecca Whitehouse studied oboe, recorder and piano with us. After a few years at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Rebecca studied for a B.Mus at the Royal College of Music before transferring to the Royal Academy of Music for her Master’s degree. Rebecca is a familiar face to many of you, as she has now been working at TLSMC for a while, teaching oboe, recorder, music theory and musicianship.

Congratulations Naomi and Rebecca!

Goodbye and Good Luck!

Nick Leaving

Last Saturday, after 22 years on our staff, we said goodbye to Nick Shipman, one of our most favourite teachers ever! Nick has been an inspirational teacher of clarinet and saxophone – we’re going to miss him so much – but we wish him all the best as he starts his new life in Spain.

End of term!

That’s it until September! Thank you to everyone that has made the last year so successful – the teachers, the parents, and most importantly, the children. For those that are not returning in September, good luck, especially to those heading off to university – we hope you continue to play your instruments!

ABRSM results

We’re delighted with our ABRSM results – 100 % pass rate, including several distinctions. We are particularly pleased with the student passing Grade 3 piano with 140, and the student passing Grade 8 flute with 139. We couldn’t do it without our fabulous team of dedicated and experienced teachers, as well as the support of our parents – and of course our wonderful children. Well done everyone, a brilliant way to end the year.
